The Laundry Buster story
I’m Leah, I was born in Kenya and I’ve been living in the UK for over a decade. I built my family here. I’m a mum of two, my daughter Zuri and my son Zawadi, who I love with all of my heart.
Laundry Buster didn’t start as a grand business plan, it started with grief.
After a devastating loss of Zawadi, I needed something steady to hold onto. I needed purpose, income, and something to keep me moving, quite literally, through the hours of the day. Laundry, the steam from an iron in particular, became that quiet anchor, fold by fold, shirt by shirt.
As life evolved, so did the business. Now, raising my daughter and running our home on my own, I’ve come to appreciate just how much weight we all carry, both visible and invisible.
That’s why Laundry Buster isn’t just about clean clothes. It’s about lifting a load from someone else’s day. Giving them back a moment of peace, rest, or joy.
It takes a village
There’s a famous African saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.”
After all I’ve been through, I believe it takes a village to get through life. We all need a little help sometimes, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of.
I’ve had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life; single individuals, married couples, divorced parents, those with children and those without, people with disabilities, pensioners enjoying their golden years, travelers living out of suitcases, folks facing mental health struggles, and anyone who’s just plain overwhelmed by the laundry pile.
No matter what stage of life you’re in, I’m here to help lighten the load.
A calling and a community
Today, Laundry Buster is more than just my business; it’s my calling and my community. It’s how I turn pain into purpose and connect with others who need an extra hand.
I usually rock up to your door with a pep in my step, having mostly done my morning yoga, definitely forgotten where I left my tea, and ready to pour joy into your day.
All jokes aside, if there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s that you don’t need to wait for a life-altering tragedy to ask for help.
Please don’t ever feel you have to carry life’s burdens alone. Whether you’re drowning in laundry or simply stretched too thin, I’m here for you.
We all deserve a little support from our “village,” and I’m honored to be a part of yours whenever you need me.
